Importance of electronic surveillance security

Why is it necessary to install electronic surveillance security at commercial buildings?

You started your business and it's booming. You got a space of your own. A fine high-end building with several stories. With that comes the question of security and whether the building is secure high. It is paramount for a commercial setup especially to have some kind of security. Are you sure your business is secure when it’s closed? Whatever happens, after you close down, you should know that.

There are a great number of risks associated with not having a highly secure security setup and using surveillance cameras at your buildings. Some common issues which you might face are below and why you would want to install a high-end surveillance system are :

  1. Your employees and workers are at risk :

You might have some workers and a team working overtime and you would want them to feel safe. During the business season and holiday times when employees would be working in shifts 24/7, you would hope that no intruder comes in. There have been many instances where the security and lives of workers in a factory were compromised because there was no security mechanism to alert them of the coming danger. You might need live camera monitoring to virtually walk your employees to their vehicles or look after them if they are working alone at night.

  1. Any untoward incident or a disaster can happen: Just because you are not open doesn’t mean your place is immune to accidents or disasters. If you have a factory, there is a probability that a spontaneous fire breaks out due to some chemical reaction and leakage. You would need to set up proper alarms and surveillance systems so that even when such a disaster happens, you can control it. And the damage can be catastrophic more so if it happens in the nighttime when there would be no professional workers around.  So, you would need a proper surveillance system to secure your business.

  2. Vendors may not be diligent:

You can trust your employees who you deal with directly. No qualms about that. But there would be occasions when you would require a third-party team to work at your place. Like say, a third-party cleaning team comes and doesn’t properly handle the security mechanisms, doesn’t lock the door properly which can give thieves and burglars a chance to sneak in. There should be a properly coordinated system where you can control and overlook the whole working of your place. Monitored cameras are a great cost-effective method to know what your vendors are up to. It is important to also pair these with coded access control or live patrol officer to check up on the site after the vendors have left.

  1. Some buildings especially the unoccupied ones may be targets:

If you have a large premise with many buildings, there is a possibility that the unoccupied ones which wouldn't have a significant crowd would attract crimes even if it is of minor nature. From loitering to theft to the deteriorating damage of property and even arson. This can significantly cost you money in repairing these damages. Also, there can be some rooms that would host important and sensitive data and you would not want that data to be leaked or be compromised. You would also need a proper scrutinized control and patrolling around the highly sensitive areas.

  1. Rising Crimes in the neighborhood:

If your place is particularly located in an area that is prone to high-risk crimes, your business and the normal working of it can be hampered.  You should preferably do your research about the area and the crime statistics before starting any business. An area bereft of crimes, theft, and burglary makes it incumbent to properly man your area and install surveillance systems in and around so that you may be notified beforehand of any unpleasant activity happening around.

  1. Important Crime evidence: God forbid, some crime happens at your office or premises, video footage is highly valuable to be used as evidence against the perpetrators. You can even present the CCTV footage in the court of law and that can be used as proof to punish and make sure someone is not acquitted of the crime they committed.

  2. Sexual Harassment Menace: Sexual harassment is still one of the leading workplace crimes despite strict regulations against it. Installing surveillance systems around your workplace would not only act as a deterrent to stop this menace but also as a piece of substantial evidence to book the perpetrator behind the bars. Yours should be an inclusive place to work where people of all genders and sexual orientations feel safe to work. That inclusivity policy would go a long way in contributing to the growing diversity of your workplace.

In conclusion, these were some of the varying benefits of having a surveillance system in your commercial workplace.
